Aroma Café in Reading is my favorite breakfast spot. Today my sister asked me if I could meet her for lunch. So we decided to go to Aroma as we call it. We had breakfast for lunch.
We both got egg white omelets, the signature lacy potatoes, and an English muffin. Yum! We had an interesting conversation and then back to work or me. It was a nice midday break.
Well, I did it! I posted a photo a day to this blog. 31 entries. At least I've kept one of my New Year's resolutions!

I must admit I have become addicted to my new heated throw. My boy kitties, Oscar and Percy are also under it's spell. Oscar hears me plug it in and comes running and tonight he even let Percy sleep on the throw with him!

Tonight I bought take out from a fave restaurant, the Green Tomato in Reading. I thoroughly enjoyed my baked haddock, rice and broccoli and there is enough left over to make another meal.
The Green Tomato is across from the train station in Reading. The sun was setting and the train station looked desolate. I still found the scene to be pretty. The lamp posts and lights, the sky and houses in the background. The calm before the storm as rush hour was approaching. It would be a vastly different scene in another 30 minutes.

Met a friend at La Qchara in Melrose for coffee. They have a chalkboard menu. I admire a person who can do chalkboard lettering. Takes a lot of skill and patience. For me it is even more difficult. I am a lefty so therefore I smudge!

I went for a little retail therapy this evening. There is a newer mall in my area called Market Street. Most of the stores are now open and there is even a little skating rink there. Some young girls from a skating club were putting on an exhibition and with snow falling and the trees illuminated it looked like a Winter Wonderland.
The rink is open to the public every day. I haven't skated in a few years but it sure looked like fun. Think I might have to go back there during a quiet time and practice my skating.

I was sitting reading in the living room and Molly decided to take a walk on the back of my chair. I put the camera in selfie mode so I could get a clearer picture of her. Eew! I ended up getting in the photo too. I hate to be in photos. Oh well. Molly looks cute

I hated to do it but I took down the Christmas greenery. It was not real anyway but I liked the look of it and the twinkle lights on it. In it's place, I set up a little Winter vignette. The trees are usually on display at Christmas but not this year. So now they are making an appearance along with the vintage figure skates. Thinking about an Olympics party but not sure yet. I used to have one every four years and I would invite friends over to watch the opening ceremonies. Fun times!

Treated myself to a mocha this morning. Been accused of being a caffeine addict but I'm really not.
Aside from the great drinks and muffins, I love, love, love the décor of this tiny gem in Melrose, Massachusetts.

I still have my Christmas greenery up on the mantel. I took the vintage ornaments down and the other lanterns in favor of a winter look but I love the greenery with lights. I am just not ready to give it up yet.

Right before Christmas I gave my cat Molly a new bed. Before I even took the tags off it she was sleeping in it. A few days later, I found Percy napping in it. Now Oscar is making it his own. Poor
Molly, she hates sharing with her brothers.

I've been thinking about redecorating my living room. The room is small, the sofa is too big, I have too many lamps in the room. Earlier today, I thought I would sell this bird lamp that I bought a few years ago at Home Goods. It's pretty unique and I love the shade. So I decided to keep it but it will take up residence in my downstairs office which I am in the process od setting up and decorating.

I received a new throw as a Christmas gift. I put it on the chair in the living room to make sure the colors worked together. I left the room for a few minutes and when I came back Percy was getting all snuggly and preparing to make it his own.

I love using lanterns in my home. This one is from Pier 1 and it is dusty blue in color. I bought it at an after Christmas sale. Although the tree came down, the greenery has remained up on the mantel. It just looks so nice I can't seem to part with it.

This is the spot where the Farmer's Markets are held in Melrose. In Summertime, it is filled with vendors selling fruits, vegetables, breads, and crafts. Today it is an impromptu skating rink. It was not intentionally flooded by the city for public skating. The rains pre-Polar Vortex flooded the area and now it is ice. There was a lone skater but she did not last long outside in the frigid temps.

Bracing for a Noreaster. Up to 24 inches of snow possible in my little corner of New England. The Christmas decorations are still up on the Common giving a little color to an otherwise wintry white scene.

Let's hope I can stick to my resolution and post a photo a day. I've tried this before and let it go after just a few days.
Today's photos is of my new Emma Bridgewater mug. Been admiring it for a while and treated myself for Christmas. I love that there is a design on the inside too, much like a teacup.
I am enjoying my latte and a few ginger thin cookies. A lazy New Year's Day, it's cold outside and I have no desire to leave the warmth of my home.
Happy New Year all and see you tomorrow!
